School-to-Work Transition Program
This program is designed specifically to assist students who are in high school gain employment experiences prior to graduation. Students will participate in internships with local employers to gain first-hand work experience. The internship provides an understanding of the skills needed for success in the position, expectations of work environments and an opportunity to practice the interpersonal skills needed in the workplace. The experiences provide a foundation for making good, informed decisions regarding further education and career choices. Internships are typically 20 to 40 hours per week. SES will help students who want to work become better prepared for life after high school and find meaningful careers.
Benefits to the individual include:
- Hands-on experience in real jobs in an actual business environment
- Payment for work done during the evaluation period
- Assistance in learning job skills and tasks from an on-site job coach
